Default 3500 ?

I own a Ford F350 6.0 Diesel and I love the truck but bad motor and dealer. My wife and I are thinking about a Dodge 3500 Diesel 4x4 mega cab. We pull a 12000 lb 5th wheel and on flat ground I get 8 mpg max. How good is the 2011 truck for pulling a 12000 lb trailer? Is the auto trans ok or get a manual? Is the motor have power like my 6.0? Any information will be helpfull.

Hey, The 2011 is a real good work truck but only if your willing to spend the money. If its going to be a work truck and get damaged alot, buy a older model. But if its just used for pulling, I would buy a 2011 dodge. I would get a MANUAL tranny. And yes it does have the power like the 6.0. My dad has a 08' 6.7 dually and i would suggest that with my experience. But yes, buy the 2011.

I've got an '08 3500 with the 6 speed manual and it pulls my 7000 pound (empty) toyhauler like its not even back there. This engine is stout ...... for S&G while pulling it home I dropped into 5th and stepped on the skinny pedal and even with the weight and wind resistance I went from 65 to 78 really quick.

This will be my last truck I ever purchase. I am 56 years young and the time I have has been shortened. While I have my health and still working my wife and I are thinking about getting away from my Ford. This truck has been a $50,000 disappointment. My kids told me not to put it in the will! We are going to Alaska this next summer and when we get back we are going to unload it.
I had a 1996 Dodge truck and it was a very good truck. I traded it in on a f350 Diesel. I am going back to Dodge.
