i unpluged my egr last night . i did my run today (about 150 miles) and i did not pick up any mpg. i run hwy and around town. does it take time before you see any gain or should it be right away. truck has some more power not much but some. would it matter if you unplug it with the motor hot or cold? that and i only pulled the one plug on the egr not the one on the pipe. should i have pulled both? i plan on doing a afe intake and a 5" stack soon -

To unplug the EGR electrical connection, when facing your engine, it is located on the left hand side where the exhaust comes out. On the top, there is an electrical plug on the very top. You need to unplug it.
I have also installed a Banks Ram-Ait Intake System. I do like it and it is the safest air filter system, as all other Banks products. The super scoop takes the cold air right up to the filter. Other filters just take the hot air from inside the engine compartment!

When you unplug it will throw a code, and if so what will it hurt to drive around with the check eng light on? -

The only cold air intake (CAI) that is a reasonable price is the S&B. What I did though, was cut a hole in the bottom of a stock 6.7 air box from the wreckers and mounted a 4"od flange in the hole and gutted the stock intake tube to the turbo. For an air filter I alternate between a K&N and an aFe. The K&N is a cone style, the aFe is flat. The K&N offers more filter surface and is quieter (less turbo whistle), especially when towing.
Results have been more highway throttle response and about a 1.5 -2 MPG increase. I am also running with the EGR unplugged for about 1-1.5 MPG increase and better off idle response. The 6.7 takes the same filter as the late 5.9s. The only difference in the two boxes is the placement or addition of sensors, to the best of my knowledge.
At some point before next spring and trailer season, I will add a tube to the flange on the bottom of the air box and some sort of scoop to the end of the tube. Hopefully it will end up similar to the Volant scoop in the center of the bumper - true ram air. -

My truck did go back for a recall and they reflashed it for something. Has a sticker for it under the hood. -

Whats up, the first thing you need to do if your worried about your warranty is talk to your dealer and ask them what voids it to them. Every dealer had different rules and are getting hip to our fun products that we get to play with. There are a ton of law suits out there with dealers right now as far as what is allowed and not allowed. The dealerships are also getting info left and right about these downloaders and programmers so there getting hip to the craze thats hit the diesel market. Your dealership should allow a coldair intake, and a catback exhaust, thats keeping your dpf which as someone said earlier isn't going to gain you too much, maybe a little rumble. I guess what im trying to say is that if your really looking to get some real power you can't be too worried about the warranty. -
