Default sb dual disk questions/ issues

cant remeber what model mine is. but recently when i let out on the clutch in reverse it grabs really hard and my pedal gets a little soft. foward gears dont do it. clutch seems normal besides when using reverse. lets hear the thoughts thanks guys

It's most probably because of the low gearing and that you are positioned differently (turned around somewhat) or the torquing on the suspension in the opposite direction.
I've known that it "feels different" but with all due respect the clutch doesn't know what gear you are in, and the input shaft turns the same way no matter which direction you you go.

Try it in 4hi and see what it does. I know a few guys the when backing up they use 4hi and it takes the jerkyness away

ya i think im going to call SB. man i have backed alot of trailers using 2 hi when i back my 5th wheel i use 4lo. but this is crazy how hard it grabs. i litterally could just let my foot slip off the pedal cause thats how its going to grab easing off the pedal. there is no way i could back my 5th wheel the way it is now. it will scratch the tires (on pavement) when it grabs in reverse. also just noticed today i can feel a vibration through my pedal pretty bad. i was wondering what a pressure plate with a bent ear would do??

Sounds like you got a ceramic dual disc if so this is normal ops. the last one I got was an organic from Val air it is not as bad but reverse is still jerkier than stock clutch. the ceramic dual disc will give you whip lash in reverse... especially if you have to back up a couple of times like hooking up a trailer. and how long did you have it before it started doing it really bad cause if it was within about 500 miles it was just getting broken in. hope this helps and the 4hi trick does work for reverse.

the clutch has about 40k on it. it just started this within the passed 500miles or less. i cant even begin to tell you guys how bad it actually jerks. i have backed my 38' 5th wheel countless times (i use 4 lo) with no problems ever backing empty. the truck almost kills everytime i use reverse no matter how ez i let out on the pedal. if you have ever road with someone on there first time driving a stick its like that but worse no lie. how ever im starting to lean towards hydrolics trying to go bad. 2 different times headed down the road. the first time i shoved the clutch in (3rdgear) and the truck kept pushing. 2nd time i was in 2nd gear and done the same thing. thanks for the opinions though guys keep them coming

That sounds like hydro's. That also would explain why it just started happening. Good to know its something relatively cheap and simple to install.
