Default Run Exhaust Brake To Save Turbo?

Good afternoon!

I was talking to a guy earlier about the adjustments to the turbo made possible by Smarty tuners. His exact statement was:

"the turbo on all 6.7's are a VGT (variable geometery turbo). there is a slide inside that moves and adjusts the vanes inside. this also accounts for your exhaust brake. always 100% of the time run with the exhaust brake ON. this helps reduce the carbon/soot buildup on the slide and keeps it moving in full range."

So my question is that is it ok to run with the exhaust brake on constantly? We run a few transport trucks and our diesel mechanic always turns the exhaust brake off on them because he said the drivers play with them too much and they are not necessary to have where we live. He also says that they can be harmful to the engine and it's they make fuel mileage worse.

What do ya'll think?

Run with it on all the time. It helps clean the turbo and saves on brake pads. Nothing but pros for running it all the time.

Any way to program it so this is on automatically and you push the button to shut it off, forget sometimes for the first few mins, would be better if it was on automatically.

Yes there is a way you can wire it to be ON all the time. Just do some searches on google should be on the Cummins forum.

I seem like I'm doing an info-mercial for this website, but I'm not affiliated at all. There's a step by step "how-to" on this at www.carbonitecummins.com

I ran mine for a year but one day I was pulling my toy hauler on the freeway (I 15) and it started cutting out so I turned off the electric brake and no more problems the since.
