i have a powerstroke 6.0now and im thinking about getting rid of it so im considering a cummins, if i get one i want to get a exhaust programmer and intake. do i need to worry about blowing head gaskets egr coolers and what ever else?

 

As long as you don't get too outlandish with tuning, you "should" be ok. I say should because I've seen people running a 60 horse tune with the Smarty blow their head gasket, while mine, on the other hand is usually running a 200 horse tune, and I haven't blown anything up yet. There has been some problems with the head gaskets delaminating on the 6.7s, but they seem to be somewhat few and far between.
If you plan on running more power, I would plan on putting studs in it. If emissions inspections aren't an issue for it, the first thing I would look into is getting rid of the DPF and EGR systems. Once that is taken care of you will have a lot fewer problems.
For tuning, I would recommend either the Smarty or one of the H&S tuners such as the XRT or Black Maxx. They will allow you run code free with your deletes done.
One other thing to keep in mind... if you end up with a manual, you're going to want to look into an aftermarket clutch, as the stock one won't hold much more than stock power without slipping. Same goes for the stock auto. I can make my auto slip if I try. I've just had to learn what the limits are and stay within them. If you blow a 6spd auto up, get ready to open your checkbook wide open...they aren't cheap to build.
Overall, I've been very happy with my 6.7. Once you get rid of the emissions systems and let them breathe, they are a whole different animal.

ya all it takes is time. It's a good thing dodge has a cummins motor. Watch out for death wobble, I had a 97 2500 and now a 07 3500 dually both have had death wobble. A real great feature I'm sure the dealer will tell you all about it. A decade of supposed progressive vehicle enhancement and that's how far they have come. I'm off to ford tomorrow.

well i love the chevys but there is not enough room, are the 6.7 know for blowing head gaskets like the 6.0 im already going on two sets on my 6.0, do you need to take the cab off to do the studs on the 6.7?

 

No you don't have to take the cab off to do head studs on the dodge.

I know a few people that have 6.7's dodges biggest complaint has been fuel mileage. but no engine troubles.

My stock 2010 has been getting 13.5-13.9 mpg so far (hand calculated)

I did. The new ford is nice but is all new and overpriced. Real world towing fuel mileage is nothing to brag about plus the exta maintance costs. Made it easy to get a Dodge
