I have remained completely stock on my 6.7 and have had no problems with mine. I do know that I have been lucky with it, and I could not have been happier. PPL and lawyers just get too sue happy with things. And I will be removing the DPF and everything else in about 30K.

 

Mine is all stock other than a CAI and it smokes like a 1940 log truck

 

What happened to the factory cold air intake?

 

Mine is all stock but only has 6k on the clock,but it runs great!

 

i dont have a 6.7 yet but that is my next one and the first thing that im doin is takin all the emission trash off

 

I was going to boy a NEW 2008 2500 6.7, BUT FORD gave a way better deal $10,000 less for a 2008 F-250 6.4

 

I own 4 2008 Freightliner stepvans with the cummins 6.7L and have the exact same problems with them as you do with your Rams. 3 out of the 4 trucks have had turbo replacements, wireing issues, smell in the cab loss of power, black smoke, engine lights....I could go on and on. I own 3 2005 Freightliners also but with the Cummins 5.9L and havent had one issue.

This law for the check engine light is a long drawn out proccess that will take years (like 10 or 15) to resolve in court. The issue with the insulation fire is something to take quite seriously. By the time you figure out that your truck is on fire the truck is basicly gone. The fire progresses through the fire wall and into the wiring under the dash and the first thing you will notice is smoke from the passanger side dash vent. I haven't heard of a class action suit on these but there are hundreds of suits in various states for this. Dodge corrected this problem by making the vehicle 4" longer in 2009. They accually advertised the fact that the new truck was longer but of course they didn't mention the real reason. It's for owner comfort! (justkidding about the comfort) If you modified the egr and cooler you won't have these fire issuse but if your stock they install a bracket to hold the insulation away from the cooler line to keep it from contacting and starting the fire. I can't say how effective this is but it would definately worry me if I owned one of these units. To be clear these are the 2007.5 through 2008 6.7L models only that have the fire issuse.
