Default aftermarket fuel filters

A friend of mine has a 2012 dodge 3500 and claims he can only get his fuel filters from Mopar or Cummins at a premium price. Doesn't anyone make an aftermarket for the newer 6.7?

yes, but not all filters are created equal.

someone either on here or cumminsforum did a comparison and a bunch of research on this. several of the brands (including mopar / cummins) were determined to have been made by fleetguard, which seems to be generally a highly-regarded filter brand. i personally run fleetguard filters on everything but my amsoil bypass - because i've only got about 10k on the bypass so that one's not due for change for probably another 15k or so.

after doing some background checking myself, i'm running purolator oil and fuel filters (made by fleetguard) this time around... we'll see if they're the same quality, though i suspect they'll be fine.

I run Wix 4 micron on my first gen 6.7 and change it at every oil change. Only takes 5 minutes and costs $17

Do you have a part number and store where you get those 4micron wix FUEL filters from? I go to my local stores in TX and they are all 12micron and they want $60+ for them! Any help would be great!

I investigated fuel filters on my own and the wix filters are 12 micron filters. I saw a post about a Baldwin filter that was a 2 or 3 micron filter but I could not verify that from the Baldwin web site, in fact they have no flow specs on their site at all so I can not say that it is right or wrong. Fleetguard is owned by Cummins and does manufacture the filters for several OEM manufacturers including the housings. The new duel filtration filter from Mopar or Fleetguard is a 4 micron rated filter. There are lots of knock-off filters out there but I have not found any quality ones bit if anyone hears of one please send me a message with the part number and manufacturer.
