take off the DPF is one of the biggest MPG gainers you can do to the 6.4's...he may not want to get into it that far...in that case alot of guys run and like the SCT tuners, or there is guy that can make custom tunes for the powerstrokes i dont know if he does them for the new ones...i cant think of his name. Some one will chime in if they know his name.

On the intake side of it, just pick one there are so many out there it is all preference to the owner on what they want -

Will the hypertech econ tuner along with the cai help this out? How effective are the cai's? -

cia's help alot on the new 6.4's there stock intake is quite restricting.
im not too familar with hypertech for the 6.4 but if they're anything like they were on the 7.3's dont expect too much.

plus if you delete the dpf/doc you will have to use a custom tuner with the capabilites to shut down the system/trick the pcm.

idk that hypertech can do that on there ecno tuner -

If you want good mileage gonna have to get rid of the DPF, I'd stick with a nice adjustable tuner like the spartan on there just in case someday he does want to get rid of the DPF then you're not stuck with a $350.00 pile of junk like you will be with the hypertech, not saying that hypertech doesn't put out a decent product but for great power and MPG i'd stick with a Ford specific brand tuner such as Spartan -

plus spartan and the others can just put your rig in a transmisson mod, shuts off everything and adds no more power output to the engine great idea if you ask me -

I agree with Superstroker because you wouldn't believe the differences transmission programming can make to a stock motor/truck from the factory the shifts are designed to be comfortable and smooth, which can lead to unnecessary wear and tear on the tranny and annoying searching for gears when not at all necessary -

So what would be a good tuner on the cheaper side, ive seen spartan and there expensive so i know he wont go for that. What can he expect on say just a cai? Does brand make a difference on power? Thanks -
