Default EGR delete question.

hey guys i'm somewhat new to the diesel world and decided to make an account so i can exchange posts in this place.

i purchased a 96 k1500 with the 6.5L TD about 6 months ago, truck is in great shape it was a one owner vehicle with about 380,000 km's. i'm upto about 405,000km's now, truck still runs decent but i wanna get a little more kick out of it

the truck was bone stock when i purchased it, since then i've added a boost and pyro gauge, also relocated the old stanadog PMD from it's original spot, that's as far as i've gotten for now.

i'm ordering the GL4 and turbo master from heath next week along with a hd lift pump and i wanna ditch the vac pump setup. so am i able to fab up a blocker plate for the "s" style intake? or is it neccesary to replace it with the style intake?

sorry about the huge post, any insight would be great thanks.

Garry.

the next step for you is your cooling system, invest in the gm highflow water pump, a bigger fan, maybe getyour stanadyne boosted and a k&n filter with a cold air intake in your two openings in the bumper, put a mesh on it to keep out the hoppers.

thanks! i slapped a k&n in the regular ol air box for now but i did put a metal meshing behind the grille to protect the rad and coolers for highway debris, i keep hearing about possible issues with the cooling system but my truck never tends to get above 90, went upto 100 - 105 a couple times but that was the hard driving i was doing, i would like to try and eliminate that fan noise when i gets that warm tho.

new injectors are on the priority list for the near future because with the long list of repair and maintainence records i didn't see replaced injectors on any of them.

when you order your GL4 ask heath to delete your egr and your maf sensor. then he will include that in your computer program. also you can get a "F" intake off a heavy duty 6.5 which will give you a lot better performance. have you ever looked at your intake. it is super restrictive. also dont get a K&N filter on a diesel. the turbo is just going to suck all the oil out of it. not good for the turbo or the engine.

and the best air intake on the market right now unless yoou make a custom one is the 97 and up air intakes. the air intake from ss diesel does nothing but suck hot air

i had to take the upper and lower intake manifold off awhile ago, the upper to do my boost gague and the other to re locate the pmd and it was quite dirty inside, but whats the difference between the f style manifold and the s style manifold besides the obvious egr valve, like are the insides of the manifolds different?

here's some before and afters of what i found in the intake.

the insides are different. the f intake is more free flowing without the egr valve
