Are you wanting to use the 12V short block, and put the 24V head and Vp on it? If so I believe the dish in the pistons are different in the two and you would have to put 24V pistons in it. Now if it is a P pumped 12V I would just have the timing cover machined to accept the cam sensor and stick in the p-pumped 12V and be done with it. I'm guessing though that it may be a Ve pumped engine?

Everything else is the same, same block used up until the intro of the 6.7. From what I was told the dish in the pistons is different. Everything else will work, my opinion is pull the heads and see what the piston valley looks like compared to a 24V.

Having seen the head off, I can tell you the pistons are different. The injectors on a 12V are off to the side, so the dish on the pistons is off center to match. Since the 24V injects directly from the top the dish is in the center. Everything else is in the bottom end is the same.
As far as what it's worth, I would guess probably only 5-10 bucks. No one wants that old technology. Let me do you a big favor and just come up there and take it off your hands. You'll thank me later. ![]() Seriously though I don't have any idea what it would be worth. Have you tried ebay and see what they are going for on there? Blocks were changed on the 5.9 HO 03/04 and later. As well as the piston and piston cooling oil galley. They had a lower block plate on the HO. So they were not the same. The SO did not.

Its always better to bring up an old informative post relating to your question and ask a question about your problem in it then to start a new thread. |
