Default turbo choices

i'll be in the market for a turbo shortly. i'm looking for a really quick spooling turbo with out insane back pressure problems. i've heard a 14cm housing is about the best for this or a 12cm housing with an external wastegate that's much more efficient at relieving the pressure. i'm not too worried about high PSI (30ish psi would be just fine) as i plan on going to a compound set-up later on down the road. so; i'd like it to also be good for a compound set-up as well. i've heard alot about a modified S300; but ATS carries a pretty boastful name and the S3000 is another turbo i've been looking at (they sell an add on kit for compounds from the s3000 and i dont have to worry about all the piping). i'd like to know how one compares to the other or even if there's much of a difference between the two. i was just currious if anyone has any experience with these turbos; not just here say. opinions and insight would be greatly appreciated.

Soon to be:transmission upgade, turbo and manifold swap, and injectors.

Dont know much about the ATS turbos, I'm sure they are good but at a point you are paying for a name and purpe paint. All the S300 based turbos can have a kit bought for them to work in a twins set-up. A nice 62/71/14 seems to be the ticket for single turbo power in a 1st gen and is a nice top turbo for twins set-up. For what it is worth I'm running a silver 62 which is a 62/74/14 and I love it.

yeah; i've seen what that silver 62 can do. but i'm after as much spool up as i can get, i'll deal with limited top end boost until i get the bottom turbo and take it to a whole new level. i'm not lookin to push much more than 55 after the compound set-up. and its purple powder coat hahaha i think i'll just save myself 400 bucks or so and get an s300 built up right.
