| 5.9L Rotary Bombs (Aftermarket) Discussion of 12 Valve 5.9 Liter Dodge Cummins Diesels with Rotary Injection Pumps Related To Performance And Longevity |
I'm new to the diesel scene and I was wondering what mods are good for a 1992 (1st gen) cummins diesel. 3200 governor spring? fuel pin? turn up the fuel screw? or is that not the best for towing?... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

Gauges
4" exhaust 366 spring DennyT cone Low pressure piston lift pump 370 injectors Super HX40 Pump tuning That is a very good towing setup. George Peterson runs that in his 1st Gen when he tows. If you have an automatic, a good converter is definitely needed though. Edit: I forgot a few things A set of Coolertubz would also help cool EGT's. Ang like 91 12valve said, a better air filter, or BHAF would also do you good. Last edited by peobryant; 12-03-2009 at 07:35 PM.. |

If it's an auto, at the very least get a converter. I recommend Dave Goerend, but there are others out there as well.
But, since the thread is asking about a towing setup, I will recommend you have Dave build you a 47rh. Our transmissions don't have lockup, which is kind of a pain. Converting to a lockup tranny, would be better in every way, they your current one. That or a 5spd. |

A 47RH? What truck is that out of?
If I were to go with a manual trans what would be the better choice? Thanks for all the help ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Anyone have an opinion on this transmission setup? If I were going to convert to a manual, it would be an NV4500. The only problem they have, is with the 5th gear nut, but that is an easy fix, especially for a conversion. There are also numerous parts available for it. If you want a 6 speed, you could swap either an NV5600, or G56 in, but both would be much more expensive, and the NV4500 has proven to be a more reliable tranny. I don't know about that "BadBoy" tranny. Never heard of it. If I were going to have someone touch my Dodge transmission, it would be either Dave Goerend or Cousin Billy. And since Cousin Billy is a local guy (who just happens to use Goerend parts) Dave would be the way to go for you.
