I remember the good times when they came out and were decried by 90% of the DTR population as snake oil, then everybody got a whole bunch of feet in their mouths when they turned out to work well.

It's supposed to be the best muffler around, for those willing to pay the extravagant price for something exotic.

I have no first hand experience though, no...

I do, and mine is outstanding! Everybody at the dyno asks what kind of exhaust I have. Quite the compliment in my opinion.

The price is up there, but I put off buying it for a couple years at 199 plus shipping. But now you can get them for 179$ free shipping and a 25$ gift card off ebay....made it a little easier.

Do these sound different from a normall muffler? I have never heard one before. What makes them special?

They sound great and really do work.

Personally - no way I would have a muffler on a 1st gen. They just sound too good without. Love mine!

I tried the straaight pipe on my 3rd gen and it was entirely way too loud and sounded like crap.
I have run a few diffetent setups.
stock cat and AERO
Dual AEROs
and now single AERO
even with the single AERO its loud! but it sounds good at least.

I would like to go dual AEROs again. The sound overall was good

3rd gens are a totally different sound. I remeber when I first got my 03. Couldn't stand the exhaust tone. So fluttery and poppy, sounded like a 7.3L almost. But them old 12v, now thats a sweet sound. So clean, and deep. Just gives me a woody thinkin bout it.

I never owned a muffler till I bought my first 3rd gen.

Well its on the truck and I love it. My personal opinion is that it sounds better than my straight piped 93. I can not only feel a difference, the egt dropped right at 100 degrees at normal cruising speed. Plus it sounds cool when you come off the go pedal and when you cut it off.
