tower_ofpower's Sig:One thing i learned in college: DON'T!!! stick your fingers where you wouldn't stick Mr. Happy 89' W250, full fuel 1 1/2 turns, smoke screw flush with the lock, stock pin mildly ground, 1/8th timing bump whole truck refreshing in progress. Soon to be: fuel pin, 366 spring, smooth wall intake tubes once i actually start stock piling some money, turbo and manifold swap, 4" exhaust; 5 if it'll fit. and nozzles.

I did grind the factory pin and didn't get much.. so I pulled out a nice hard round rod and turned it down, then ground the profile I liked into it, bolted it up and away I went! -

Any pin that starts out as a factory pin is no good, there's just not enough material there to work with.
A good pin will be made from a solid piece of stock and will be heat treated.
Avoid bullydog and ddp because of weak heat treats.

Denny makes a good pin, but it is really aggressive. Good if you want max power, but it will affect fuel economy.
I went with Mikes Old Smoky power pin. Mike designed the original, allowed ddp to use his design initially (now they make them without permission), and bullydog copied his design also.
I've read multiple places Bullydog pins groove badly because of lower quality steel and poor heat treat, so buyer beware. I suspect Bullydog gets them from DDP. -

I dont know how they pulled that off, there is not enough room in teh stock pin to get anywhere NEAR a DennyT Stage 2 or teh M&H pins....

Here is the DennyT Stage 2

Here are the two pins side by side. You can see the difference. The stock pin on the left is rotated to its deepest setting. You can pick up a little more with grinding, but you will never get anywhere near an aftermarket pin.
