Best Way To Build A 3rd Gen Cummins...?
ok i get asked alot by other 3rd gen owners what can they do to there truck what would i reccomand. and i know that sometime in the future i will be buying a CR cummins. i am pretty good when it come to a 2nd gen but lost when it comes to a 3rd gen...what is the hot setup to run. if i want to build a 500 to 600 HP CR how would i do it? is it pretty much the same as the 2nd gens???
CHIP- what would you run?
injectors- what would you run?
turbo- what would you run?
intake- what would you run?
exhaust- what would you run?
and i know work will need to be done to the trans and georend is the man for that. and i yes i know gauges...

You don't need injectors for what HP you list but you will need a lift pump like a FASS or Walbro. An Edge Hot Juice stacked with an EZ would be enough fuel for that kind of power and not drain your rail. A nice turbo would be an HTB2 62/12 from High Tech. AFE stage 2 Mega Cannon with a nice mandrel bent 4-5" exhaust would be needed as well. That combo would put you right around 500-530 on a 325 600/610 motor. If you wanted to crowd 600 then a heavier fueling box would be in order but you may run into the CP3 being a hindrance and might have to upgrade to a modded one from Floor It or similar then injectors would make sense and so on and so on. 500 HP is fairly easy on a common rail but 600 HP and up is a whole different ball game and that starts to get expensive.

U dont need duel fuelers to make that kinda power! Start with a good lift pump setup that way u have plenty of fuel supply (check outhttp://www.GlacierDieselPower.com) Then add like a TST R49AP for fueling, i would think with the new features that u would be able to get that power with out stacking! Id probably do some 90hp injectors (Don M's). Get a stage II CP3. Then upgrade the turbo, there are lots to chose from, Industrial Injection, HTT make some great chargers! Maybe try something in the 64/13 range, but if spool up is a must then the 62's would work better!
Round it out with a good intake and u should be good to go!! But this is just my $.02 worth.

I was very surprised to see on a totally stock 04.5 that after I installed a fuel pressure gauge it didnt take much to suck er down to dangerously low pressures......then after addin a power pup ya could suck it down to nuttin.......I added a FassII and all was happy after that
address the fueling issues so the cp3 will be happy

with every cummins:
fuel delivery upgrades by means of a FASS, monitoring upgrades by means of ISSPRO gauges, computer upgrades by means of a smarty CR, clutch upgrades by southbend, trany if an auto by BD, exhaust if targetting over 500 HP go 5" mbrp turbo back with a muffler and a 6" tip. Injectors, dual cp3's, an EDGE COMP to stack and a set of twins with possible intercooler upgrades would be a good system. I forgot the air box. For that use a AFE stage 2 with the slick new filter media and a sock.
All said you are into a project well over $10,000 in materials and labour.
