what's the best programmer to get?
Hi gang, what would be the best programmer for my stock '06 cummins? The only thing I've done to it was put a Magnaflow muffler on it and put an open pipe from the turbo to the Magnaflow muffler. I would like to start with a programmer for some added power, mileage and maybe some smoke every now and then...Thanks guys

Next week my Hypertech Max Energy will find it's long, slow way to Alaska, and I'll let you know what it does. According to Hypertech's Dyno, the 6-speed gains +176 HP and +289 TQ from the '05-'07 Cummins with a 6-speed. A bit less with the automatic at +113 HP and +185 TQ. I've read that guys have put the level 3 (highest) program in and have achieved a 2-3 MPG increase. I'll have to see this for myself, though. I sold the idea to my wife on the grounds of MPG increase, as diesel is $3.39/gal up here in North Pole, Alaska. Best price for it was $319 at 4wheelonline.com, saved about $60. Give me a few tanks of coal and a few days of driving and I'll let you know.

smarty's are bad *** but this new TST PowermaxCR PDA49 is supposed to get 200hp and 600ft lb tq at the rear wheels color display for pyro, boost, tach and rail pressure. That may be more than what you want but you can contact them out TST Products, Inc.

I like the TST for pulling the best. The TST is a little harder to install just have to follow the instructions.
The smarty has better low end grunt and simple to install and remove one conector and push a few buttons.
If I had to choose I would take the TST.
