Default black smoke..

I have got a 2004 not 4.5 5.9 cummins with a AFE stage 2 air intake, ats exhaust manifold, edge juice chip, banks high ram intake, and 5in stacks, and i get a little bit of smoke but i would like to have clouds but not screw up the truck. some one said that i should just put a litre of oil in my fuel tank every other time i fill up to lubricate dodges bad fuel pumps and to get thick black clouds. Any suggestions other than that??

Smarty, injectors, Airdog or FASS. That should make it smoke pretty good. Does your Edge have the attitude monitor? If not get a good pyrometer.

One more thing... If all your trying to go for is smoke, your going to get alot of criticism because alot of people (including me) don't want to see the gov't put more restrictions on us (diesels) because of people who just use diesels to throw smoke clouds everywhere. But we as a community will help you get the smoke and do what you want but please please don't be immature and smoke out every street because its just hurting the entire diesel community....

Whoever told you that is full of crap....do NOT do that..oil does not help and it's bad for your engine, unless you're referring to TCW-3 2-stroke ashless motor oil, in which case you only run a 1:200-1:100 ratio...but that will NOT give you smoke, that's for longevity and lubrication purposes. To get smoke you need a ton of fuel...injectors are the way to go...no matter what truck you drive, it takes more than just a big tune to get smoke; you need to shove more fuel in there, injectors or additional fuel pump.

or you can put a plastic bag over you air filter..

Sounds like the truck is running perfect. If your clearing up all teh smoke from your Edge then you have a great mix of fuwl and air for power. I bet your truck runs pretty good.

The fuel pump will help but without the injectors it really won't help too much. Basically with an upgraded pump, you'll have the fuel for big power but you won't have the delivery unless your running bigger injectors... But if your really planning on turning up the fuel, it would be wise to price out a nice turbo to keep your egts down.

Go ahead and add the attitude module to the juice. it has built in low boost fueling set to the level you choose. easy on and off.

not necessarily at all... what so ever... an "additional" fuel pump (i dont know what you mean my additional...) will not add smoke... it will jsut provide the cp3 with enough fuel all the time... it doesnt matter if you are putting 10psi to the cp3 or 100psi to it.. the cp3 will only let so much fuel in.. so fuel pump will NOT add smoke.. it is definately a good idea to add an aftermarket fuel pump(ie.. FASS or AirDog).. i dont know how you would run an additional fuel pump though ontop of your oem lift pump.....

And yes, a tune will get smoke... i have a PPE STANDARD programmer and it will smoke a whoooole bunch... a Bully Dog Triple dog with crazy larry which is actually called their "Smoke tune" will smoke a LOT. a smarty will add lots of smoke too.... so as far as having to get bigger injector being the only way to get smoke... that is incorrect...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And yes the whole being immature and smoking out intersections and shutting roads down has already gone far enough... the EPA is already up our a$$es about smoke... Look at Schied last year... (if you were there) I bet we would be lucky to be invited back next year if this year goes like last year... there were a bunch of idiots running around.. at every parking lot doing donuts or every stoplight doing burnouts or racing down main street... seriously it makes us ALL look bad...

ya i agree that having a black president sucks but our goverment and EPA dont work like that... they dont care if we have a black president or not... they arent going to just dismiss and forget out smoke...

Yeah sorry I was referring to a dual CP3 setup, not a lift pump.
And the crazy larry tune is now defunct. But I guess there are still some tunes out there that will get lots of smoke.

id say just get some 150hp injectors and a bigger turbo and that should make you start rolling some coal. But getting the turbo you would have to waste gate it at 40 pounds.
