Ok when i got my truck the previous owner cut the exhaust off behind the muffler. So i took everything off and just bent up some pipe and ran a straight 3 inch out the back. Its not loud enough for me, but what would happen if i cut that and ran it out infront of the rear tire. Whould that be any louder??

prolly make it louder for ya, but.... i don't know what color your truck is, or, what you got done to it, but you are likely to make the back of your truck, up the side, pretty black. i have seen it happen to a ford my buddy had. he always had to wash it and keep it clean. was a pain, he only had it on till winter, then got sick of cold hands once a week to wash his truck. but it did sound pretty good, and looked neat.

I dont know how much power you lose between the 2 sizes but, I have a 5 inch on my truck and im pushin like 325 to the wheels, its actually probably not enough to be significant would be my guess,it sounds great and it has a muffler, but when youre trying to market something you have to make it sound like you need it till you get here then you need that when you get there. The only thing with 5 inch is the fit, mine hits the crossmember where my transmission mounts, so I have to rehang it. I would go with 5 inch because sooner or later youre going to want more power and to be honest i think 4 inch straight pipe is annoyingly loud. Everyone thinks my truck is loud enough. So I dont want to go with a 4 inch and besides cruisin over 2000 rpms you will develop an annoying drone inside youre cab if its in front of the tire.
