Well some of you know me. names russ peeps call me sparky long story but the name should give it away . im new i been searching for a few days on the threads now and found answers to alot of my questions but some i have found mixed comments on. my sig shows what my truck has but im trying to figure out if i should spend the money on a 4" or keep the 3.5 or even go to a 5" and should i buy it or make it? second are the injectors i know everyone has there taste and driving style but im a newb had my truck not even a year and i love power and i want this baby to puff so much smoke people call the fire department because they think something is on fire. all my stuff im buying from xtreamdiesel.com got my air dog 100 and edge attitude from them an love them. anyways back to the injectors i was looking at the 150 jammers so i get the smoke an power. 3rd is the intake motor needs to get more air same thing as the injectors everyone has there own 2 cents but i mean should i pay 350 for the AFE Stage 2 Cold Air Intake System Type XP 54-10072 on sale at xtream diesel or just go to napa and buy something? and last but not least is the tranny that is the most confusing thing to me im not a big gear head yet but im trying to get there so is it worth upgrading the one i have in there that has about 85 90,000 miles or get a new one and what should i upgrade in it? well i know this is alot to take in at one time but im board and want to work on something after work. thanks in advance

Hey Sparky, welcome to the site. First things first.

What will you be doing with this truck. This is a build up that will have to be done in stages.

The tranny should be the next thing you look at before you go any further. The tranny alone is gonna set you back at least a few grand to rebuild yours strong enough to hold the kind of power your wantin. More if you buy a new one, as much as $5 or 6 grand last I knew of.

With a stock turbo, if you plan on using and abusing this truck EGT's could also be an issue with the 150 injectors. Kinda iffy depending on what brand you get and how hard you drive it.

The air intake is gonna depend on who you talk to, they're like a religion around here. But no to a NAPA special. Spend the bucks and get a good one.

We'll start with this. Keep in mind that Mods are a one way street. Once you start you can't stop because you will continuously find the next weak spot in the truck. Be sure your pockets are deep enough, I've watched a lot a good people through the years get in over their heads and end up with a dead truck they couldn't afford to fix.

Welcome to the family.

the truck is used for just cruising i have a work van so i prob put 100 miles on the truck a week so its not used much i have a speed boat i tow but thats nothing. i got the truck for cruising/ some what of racing tired of the damm little ricers wanted to surprise them. ok since i bought the truck i have 2gs for the tranny but i dont know what to ask the guy to put in it. as for the 150 jammerz sticks i was going to upgrade to the bd super b for the turbo then get twins later on down the road. and was going to go with the afe intake because looks nice for the money. but if you say its safer to go in stages ill get the afe stage 2 intake and what would be a nice set of jammerz to put on the stock turbo/tranny that will smoke and have power? then ill do the tranny then bd super b turbo then the 150 sticks. and if you could let me know what i should tell the tranny guy what i should put in the tranny? thanks in advance guys.

I would think the jammers would eat that stock tranny up so the tranny would be first on my list. I have a manual trans in my truck but the jammer 150's made a heck of a difference. Driving without my quadzilla on the truck has plenty of power just from the injectors. Turn the box on and it gets fun, truck gets sideways, smokes good, spins in 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th. I always drive with my box off and get 19-22mpg on the highway depending on driving and temps dont get out of control. I have a turbo off of an 03 Common rail that doesn't come close to putting out what the super b does and temps don't get above 800 until racing. Running down the track I hit 1500 at the time I shift to 5th. If your wanting to see smoke from jammer 150's and a quadzilla then here you go....

Btw! You will love the superb, but once you add a box it might get a little hot sometimes! If yourcareful its totally worth it.
but do the trans first! Like everyone said

I put the trans off on my truck and had no 2nd gear for almost a year!

Goerand, suncoast! Are the 2 I see the most!

You obviously need a valvebody! But once you get a box and injector, your going to want to get a billet inputshaft!
I have seen/heard of many breaking!

Your transmission will mostlikely run about 3800$ from a reliable place.unless they really have raised their prices! (Wouldn't doubt it)

Welcome enjoy, and be responsible with that smoke when you get it!!
