Default Need New injectors opinions wanted and questions.

I have a 1998.5. I have upgraded to a FASS 150gph lift and a new vp44. Also have a quadzilla puck type 75hp chip.

I have diagnosed a hard start issue to at least one bad injector. Truck has 180,000 miles and runs great once running. I am looking at getting a little more performance with new injectors. I am not ready to drop in a new turbo yet.

Would 150hp injectors get me ballpark 400hp without extreme egt. A bigger turbo is probably in the future as well.

I run the truck on the street as a DD and tow a 5th wheel 6 or 7 times a year with minimal hills or high speed. I can tend to pull jackrabbit starts and rag on it occasionally.

Any recommendations or issues with these plans?

If you plan on towing a 5th wheel I wouldn't put the 7x0.010's (150 hp) in. But if it was just a DD with light towing you should be fine depending on your elevation. I run them on mine and don't have an issue with egt's but I don't really tow either. In your case I would look at maybe some RV275's or similar hp rated injectors.

Thank you, I have another issue also. I just added a boost and get gauge. In neutral I smash the the petal and only get about 8psi. On the road it's reading 25 psi at WOT. Is this normal? Is that high for a stock turbo.

Stock turbo can handle 35psi. I think you are fine.

A little more info that may help. At 3000rpm the turbo is putting out 28psi. Spooling seems pretty quick after 1500rpm and 10psi then rockets to 28psi. Shifting to 2nd and 3rd gear it doesn't drop much if at all.

Probably looking for issues that are not there B)
Thank you for the knowledge.

7x.010 (so-called "150hp") injectors are gonna smoke as much as Cheech & Chong at lower RPM without a Quadzilla Adrenaline tuner that can back the fuel down at lower boost levels.
Mine also smoke quite a bit at idle until the truck warms up. So much in fact, I might pull them out. (Motor is new, has maybe 10k miles on it).
Without a tuner that can reduce your fueling when you want it to, those injectors with a stock turbo are gonna be a little hot & smokey for towing, too.
