Best fuel filter?
Changing out the VP44 and bought a Duralast fuel filter from Autozone for 17 bucks + tax but I see where NAPA has a WIX for 26 + tax...should I go for the WIX or is there a better than that choice out there?...just trying to avoid more expensive VP44 problems... also looking at FASS system...Tx.

Tx. gh0stman.I will return the Duralast to Autozone and go to NAPA for the WIX filter...I called Thoroughbred Diesel and the guy told me that I probably should not go with the FASS system he sells because I have an in-tank lift pump...he says it is too much of a headache because it was designed to mount on the frame replacing the OEM in that position...I just got my fuel pressure gauge in so will mount it tomorrow...guess I'll try to find an upgraded in-tank lift pump.

Personally not a fan of the WIX filters, they are 10 micron filters and Cummins suggests at least a 7. I hear great things about the Baldwin filters (PF7977), which is what I use. You can get them for ~$16 on Amazon which is much cheaper than the ones you get at any auto parts store and they are better quality. The Baldwin filters are 5 micron filters. With how expensive and sensitive these injectors are I wouldn't risk it.

Fyi the baldwin pf7777 is the filter listed for our trucks but is a 7 micron if I remember correctly. The pf7977 is listed for 03+ cummins but is the same dimensions as ours and filters better. Only downside of the 7977 is you will have to replace it more often compared to the 7777 since it's catching more dirt.
