Default Exhaust Replacement

After installing a new industrial VP, my mpg was 21.6. Just installed the XZT+ and have it set to 35hp (fuel econ mode), response is good. Will follow-up in a few days regarding the mpg and performance.

What would a 4in exhaust do for my engine? I tow very little and I try (emphasis on try) to drive conservatively. Exhaust temps are from 600-700 (normal traffic) to low 900s on acceleration and climbing. From what I have read, larger exhaust will lower my exhaust temps, Question do I need to lower the exhaust temps given the above info?

What will I gain from swapping to 4in? Will there be a difference in performance? The reason I’m asking is that I have red threads that described very little increase in performance.

4 inch will sound bettdr EGT's and give a litlle gain in power maybe. I would reccomend a cheap one. I couldnt justify spending twice as much on an SS system when they really dont put out any condensation to rot it out.

Given what my egt are, do I need to lower the temp?

By going cheap do you mean aluminized vs steel?

Mine are about the same but I would like to be lower. It doesnt look like you are putting too much fuel to it so i guess you are fine there. I went aluminized. You can get a good aluminzed fit for around $275 or less if you shop around.

I runthe crap out of mine so I am not sure on Milage but i get descent miles still. It sounds awesome but I am getting ready to go to 5 inch. 5 inch sounds AWESOME. On a mosstly stock truck i would say 4" is your best bet.

Would it be safe to assume that increases to hp & mpg are minimal after changing your exhaust from stock to 4 in. Benefit is lower egt.

you will see an increase in mileage and power. i have seen an increase with every mod i've done so far it all has to do with your driving... you will see a difference in spool up and the way your turbo performs... I say get it

and please keep us posted on the new chip

Will definately keep you posted about the chip. I had the XZT xillaraider and know have the xzt+. So far feels great, doesn't smoke at WOT like the xzt, feels alittle more responsive on bottom end. LA traffic showed put it through its paces over the next week.

Will make some calls about the 4in exhaust this week.
