5.9L 24V Bombs (Aftermarket) Discussion of 24 Valve 5.9 Liter Dodge Cummins Diesels with VP44 Injection Pumps Related To Performance And Longevity

I'm in the market for an intake elbow and i was wondering which one is the best. I've heard great things about the Banks High Ram Intake elbow, and was wondering if that was the best of if it's something else. -... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

Well the demonstrations i've seen with the stock elbow vs. banks is that the stock elbow has so much dead space in it where there is no air moving because of the sharp bends in it. -

yea, not having to drill holes in your brand new parts would be nice. More manufactures should do that to their parts. Drilling into a brand new intake elbow or exhaust manifolds is pretty sucky. -

I have to ATS arc flow.Didn't notice a difference.Nice to have pre-drilled holes.I would base it on details that you are going to do to the truck and how much you are willing to put out for one.

The banks is JUNK i've seen them crack or break and destroy motors.
There's no power gain for the VP trucks with a aftermarket intake horn unless its custom built! -

I have the S&B intake elbow but I haven't had a chance to see if it makes a difference or not. -

You might want to check out TURBOLVRs intake plate. It's a nice piece and, from what I've read etc., might give more benifit EGT and flow wise than others. Now, put his AND an aftermarket piece together and you may even get better flow, yet.

Wow, this is interesting. If you read the claims on the Banks unit it seems like you'd get some SOP difference:

High-Ram Intake increases Power by eliminating the restriction that the stock manifold causes. You will enjoy faster turbo spool up as well as quicker acceleration and better fuel economy with this product.

Anyone out there use this specific elbow? -

Banks said the same thing about the 2nd gen manifold and it was for sure a false claim. As for that one, I cant say much for it on dyno numbers or the SOP meter, but I did witness one crack when over-torqued. The customer brought it in with chunks in the intake it's self. -

On my 01 Cummins, I was looking for an intake tube, but didnt want to pay the high price cuz Im cheap and dont have alotta cash. I found on Ebay a pusher intake tube. You can get them in a few different colors or plain. They dont look totally ghetto or great like a Banks or whatever but i was impressed with the performance. I paid like $119 unpainted, or its like $130 for a powercoated one. I had one problem with it and I hadda mount the dipstick under the intake tube instead of ontop where the bracket was cuz I broke the end of the dipstick off for the tube was too high but it duz clear the hood. For what its worth, it wasnt a bad deal. But who am I to say either. I went the cheap way and my truck isnt heavily modified either so its all personal preferance. -
