ok first off let me say i am new to modifying diesels and everything but have had them for a while mostly powerstrokes but now have my first cummins and i love it its a 2002 24v with a 5 speed mostly stock except for a quadzilla xzillerader the 120hp one that they dont make any more and a quadzilla scout for the guages. here is my question what is my fuel pressure suppose to be at, at idle, and what is the lowest i should ever see at wide open throttle? because when i go wot with my chip turned up i see 0 on my guage and even stock i see 0 at wot but the truck still pulls hard even with the 0 pressure reading any help and what should i set my warnings at to let me know when to back out and let things cool down and catch up any help is greatly appreciated.

Fuel Transfer (Lift) Pump pressure with engine running minimum of 10psi and no more than 20. Fuel transfer (lift) pump pressure with engine cranking minimum 7psi. I would set your warning to go off when fuel psi drops below 10 psi, egts at 1250F, and boost at around 30-35psi. If your seeing 0 psi all the time 9 times out of 10 your lift pump is dead
so I would recommend you get a FASS or an Airdog, if you run with zero psi its going to take out the vp44 which is going to set ya back anywhere from $1300 to $2200 depending on which injection pump you get. Also you can request a price quote from the vendors on the site for a price on one of the fuel systems mentioned above and theyll get ya price

at idle my MITUSA pump puts out 17psi, and since its a mechanical pump pressure only goes up, never down like an electrical pump would do. Your definatly going to need to do something.

The $450 price is for the HPFP and the Raptor. Most guys don't need or want a full system with filters.
We sell many more filterless systems than the full systems by far! As far as shop installs, we mostly install filtered units. Kinda weird. Dave |
