Or an edge EZ. That'll bump the timing a little bit. He really shouldn't go with anything too aggressive, especially if he is towing. His tranny or clutch won't hold too long if its not set up for it.

I agree with the other 2 above. I first started with a stock truck and a edge ez and 275 injectors and took my tranny out. I would think the smarty may be his best option just because of the low end torque it gives for towing. And you can also set it for timing only for mileage when not towing

edge juice w/ att....plenty of power, all the gauges you need, and better economy...smarty is a nice gig but it wont do nearly the things to a 2nd gen that it will to a 3rd like mentioned above....smarty's are best when they are stacked

Then he had better plan on a tranny upgrade before he does it!! Otherwise he will be without his truck while the new tranny is installed

I can get you a good deal on any programmer you wish... Smarty is always a great option for the dodges... but I do have to agree that the edge with attitude is nice because it comes with gauges... banks is over priced, and bullydog is a little dangerous for the tranny....

How much is he wanting to spend? Does he already have gauges? If he already has gauges id say an Edge Comp. Let me know if I can help.

all the truck has is a drop in k&n filter and a 4 in cat back. after watchim him tow full forage boxes and full gooseneck loads i dont know how his stock tranny is still alive at 90,000 so he may have to do some trans work in the future anyways. i had told him about this site and he just wanted me to ask around so when i know his plans i will let you all know thanks again

I would say a fuel system upgrade first. Then get a set of gauges and an edge ez. Or do the juice with attitude and just don't tap the pump wire till he wants more power.
