Default Military man needs help! Upgrading 24V

I got a 1998.5 Dodge cummins 2500. New to the diesel world and I love my truck and want to upgrade a little. I got a couple extra bucks in the bank seeing as im deployed right now. Wandering what would be the best thing to do to my rig. I want to upgrade for better gas mileage. I was told get the edge juice chip. Wanted to see what everyone else thinks. I am willing to spend about 2 grand for this.

edge has some decent power adders just make sure to get pyro and boost gauges and if this truck is an automatic better get a tranny temp gauge as well

well id say if your gonna chip it, get an airdog or FASS lift pump, otherwise you'll run your injection pump dry and be out another $1000, then ya the juice is a good chip but alot of guys are running the adrenaline from quad and are liking it alot. Then you either need to run the attitude monitor with the edge or the pulse monitor from quadzilla, or get regular guages to keep an eye on stuff

I went with an Airaid air filter and MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust. I love both of them!

Gauges are a must if your going to upgrade your truck. I recommend Boost, EGT and Fuel Pressure. Then you need to upgrade your fuel system (Fass or Airdog). If you looking for a good mileage combo try an Edge EZ and some of our 40hp Fireball Injectors. A good 4" exhaust and intake will also help with mileage and help keep your exhaust gas temps down to a safe level. If you have any questions feel free to give me a shout or send me a PM.

airdog 100, 5in exhaust, airfilter, computer/programer and keep going slowly. From one military to another go slow and do it yourself learn about your truck. I don't know your mechanical ablities but do your best. And Welcome to DB.

what trans do you have? Thats going to be next on the needs help list one way or another. I would go edge juice with attitude and fass 150 first, then a 4" turbo back exhaust and s&b cold air intake. Also another great mileage booster is AMSOIL synthetics in everything that needs lubed. I did my diffs and almost 1mpg gain there by the time I did diffs and motor 1.5 mpg solid gain.

01quadcab's Sig:01 edge drag comp, fass 150 with vulcan big line kit, amsoil front to back, custom cold air intake with s&b filter with compounds by Jefferson State Diesel 603hp vp truck. 12.38 1/4 http://jeffersonstatediesel.com also a 99 5spd quad cab 4x4 edge juice with attitude, fass 95, afe intake, 4" lift lumber rack the basic work truck.

I wasn't going to mention anything, but since you hinted to it, synthetics in the drivetrain and engine can give a conservative increase in fuel mileage...as well as other benefits. Any interest there, I can give you the lowdown
Thanks for the servcie you have provided to us all!!

I have a 98 1/2 to I added the edge juice with additude to mine and I am loving it. I also added a fass 90/150 fuel pump to it as well, I heard to many bad things about the stock pump and didnt want to chance it. I have an AFE stage 2 intake and 5 inch turbo back exhust too I am planning on doing a few more things to it that is why I went with the 5 inch.. My mileage went from 16 mpg to 21 mpg, as long as i keep my foot of the skinny pedal and the black smoke from rollin out the back, ( but that is why I bought a diesel). the truck is a 5 speed 4x4 and I havent had a problem witht the clutch yet but I know I will soon. I have only had the truck for 9 months now. and put 15,000 miles on it, it only had 50,000 when I got it.

Thanks for doing what you are doing over there

first of all welcome.
First, get you an edge juice with attitude(stay away from the quadzilla adrenaline(yes luke i still hate it). THe attitude monitor shows you every guage you'll ever need. mines been acurate and verified with stand alone mechanical guages that im running.
2nd, 4inch MBRP turbo back, running it on 3 trucks of mine right now, love it.
3 Airraid is good, AFE is another. However, i do reccomend a non-oiled filter though. sometimes the oiled ones can damage your turbo if its overoiled by mistake(AKA k&n filters) or if you really want to stay cheap, running a BHAF(big honkin air filter)
