Default Changing timing cover gasket also doing kdp fix

My cover is leaking pretty good so I figured this will give me a chance to deal with the kdp while I have it apart. The front of my motor has a 1/2" of crud on it. Is it ok to hit it with a hot water pressure washer? And is there any other typical problems I should be looking out for when having the front cover off? It has 240,000 miles on it. Thanks

Yea you can hit that sucker with a pressure washer I would change you oil afterwards, I generally do the oil pan to when I do KDP and Font Covers, you need a cherry picker to lift the engine up so you can pull the oil pan. Make sure your front cover shroud does not have any cracks on her and check you gear teeth. Thats about it.

I hope the gears look good. There is a noticeable rough spot/extra vibration when idling. Whatever the rough spot is , it is in sync with the motor.

U need a new front crank seal. Make sure you spray the front crank with break cleaner to make sure it is real clean. The crank seal is pretty sensitive as it's just Teflon. Forget the oil pan gasket if it's not leaking!!!!!

P.s. Locktite all the bolts in there that hold the timing case to the block as they come lose as well and can do the same damage as the kdp!!!!

I ordered the timing cover gasket set- it includes the seal and seal saver. I'm hitting the car wash after work tomorrow. I never thought about using the lock tight on the cover bolts - thanks. Hopefully the pan is not leaking but I have a 40 mile drive after I spray the motor down so that will give me a chance to see, also my fuel/water filter is leaking I think. I plan on making my own dowel pin blocker from a link online. Thanks again.
