Default automatic vs manual P-pump

Ladies & gentlemen i am not sure of the difference but i have a 97 12v that came out of an automatic dodge in a crew cab 06 ford dually, it has a 0 fuel plate and 370 marine injectors phat shaft 62 windmill. Now I've turned up four other 12's for buddy's of mine and they can all stomp my ass off the line and pull from me. I kinda thought with all the fuel i should out run them. So I'm wondering and questioning what is the difference in the automatic tranny P-pump vs the Manual tranny P-pump. So I'm kinda green at this so enlighten me please, and sorry if its been posted on here already and I'm jut not seeing it.

The Automatic has a smaller cam in it therefore meaning less hp. They build manual trannys a lil bit better so they usually make it a higher hp pump. The auto i think had a 180 hp pump and the manuals had 215 hp pump.

Thank you sir, i knew about the difference in the 180 and 215 as far as it being stamped on the timing cover. but wasn't sure what the exact difference was. so is it possible to revamp the automatic pump to equal the manual pump's.

I've been told that the cams are the same, but I don't know enough about them to know specifically how they deliver their different amounts of fuel at different times. Basically the 180hp pump is on the 97auto and a 97manual had a 215hp pump. It's my personal belief the 180 and 215 pumps may require different timing settings, but anyway...the 215 pumps will always deliver more fuel mod for mod.

The 94-96 autos have the 160hp pump
the 94-96 sticks have the 175hp pump both have the same cam 131 dv's and flat top plungers

the 96-98 autos have the 180 pump with flat top plungers, a better cam than the 160 and 175 pumps, and 181 dv's
the 96-98 sticks have the 215 pump, retard notches on the plungers, better cam than the 180, lighter gov assembly, and 181 dv's

If im not mistaken and Weston can correct me if im wrong, but the 180 pumps dont retard the timing in the top end as much as the 215 pumps do. I might have it backwards if you could set it straight for all of us Weston. Thanks in advance.

215hp plungers have an upper helix that retards the timing, the 160-175-180hp do not.

oh, i stand corrected.

Looking at the timing charts why are the plunger lift specs different? I thought the cam profile determined the lift numbers.

Plunger design, the groove in the top of the 215hp plunger accounts for the difference.

I'm running the timing 19 btdc, I've been doing some asking around and some other folks think that i may possibly have something malfunctioning. Like some delivery valves messed up or a bad injector, he hasn't given me any evidences or indication as to why he thinks this. So i'm not sold on it till he can back it. One thing for certain I need to do a compression test on it and see if any cylinders are down, the motor has a 150000 miles on it bone stock than i stuck it in this Ford and tweaked on it a little, now its up to 170000. I'm not sure but some one once told me that the 97 98 cummins had a 13mm pump not sure if its only standard trannys or for both automatic and standard?
