Default 4K GSK Cruise Control Surge

I have my 4K kit in and all is great except whe I set the Cruise. I get a slight surge when i set the cruise and then while running down the highway I'll feel a slight surge in the seat of my pants and the boost gauge will move a couple pounds and then settle back down. I have the GSK set to the stock depth and I have tried 2, 3, 4 clicks more and 1 less than stock. To be at the stock depth I have them set at intial +3 clicks. Is this normal with a 4K kit? The tighter I made them the worse the surge was... looser didn't help so i just put it back. Any ideas?

The surge is common with governor springs, some are worse than others.

Thanks. That is what I needed to know. It's not terrible I just wanted to know if it was normal. I can live with it knowing I am gonna have some change being I altered it from stock. Being I have a Pacbrake kit I would assume a say Haisley kit or PDR kit might be better?

The pacbrake kit is one of the best! Harry Piers (Piers Diesel) designed it.

Andy, Wasnt there some guy's using a "snubber" peice in the vaccum line to eliminate this?

Have a 45* pick handy to scrape the shims out with.

Thanks guys. I would like to hear more about this snubber. The surge while setting the cruise doesn't bother me as much as the one once in a while whil running down the highway. It doesn't do it with my foot on the pedal so i know it's not compressor surge.

I know someone was messing with a snubber, but, never seen a follow up on it at all.

Mine is not too awful bad as it just kinda creeps up in speed and you have to watch to maintain highway speeds.I never was much of a cruise nut anyway and can do without it as I would rather just pedal her.

As for the spring instyall that lodal asked about.....
The trick is take your time and do it right the first time. That way you do not make any mistakes which could lead to issues later.........Andy

My speeds stay the same it's a just the boost ramps up a couple of pounds....enough I can hear it, feel it in my seat and watch it on the boost gauge.

I have 4gsk and mine does it too. I thought maybe it was the increase in fuel was screwn with the system because im not sure how the cruise system works.
