Default cummins 12 valve fuel plate

my recent toy is a 1997 dodge cummins. it is a extended cab 2500. i put a leveling kit on it and 35 in hankooks, bumpers, headache rack, fuel tank, 5 in straight pipe exhaust, took out the silencer ring, ground the fuel plate to a 0, slid it and the afc housing forward, turned star wheel all the way up, exhaust brake, and pyro gauge. it also is a 5 speed

anyway my question is for anyone who has a simular setup are you able to pull any trailers without getting to high of exhaust temp and also what temp does your pickup tend to run at? i am asking this because i farm and tend to haul alot

i have had two other 97's and ran a #10 and #100 in those but had a lot more done to them and they tended to get really hot and i also had a 2002 that was aslo built and it to ran hot..

anyway i just really wanted more power out of this new one, it was just to slow. if you have any recomendation on what i should be runnning or doing to this pickup feel free to give me all the info you can

thanks! -

How hot is it getting? If its too hot you have to slide the plate back or get a performance turbo. -

he mentioned the fuel plate and afc forward, maybe full forward? he sounds like he might have with his starwheel all the way forward too.... why not push everything up together -

Back the starwheel off a little, and slide the plate back a little bit, or you could just buy a new turbo -

aluminum (which is what you're pistins are made out of)melts at 1250*not a good idea to run it at 1200*for long!!i've heard of them melting at less temps. -

i seem to have the same problem pulling hills empty at a altitude of 3500 to 4000 ft. 900 to 1200 degrees going 65 in o/d. if i have o/d off it is around 800 to 900 going 55. i guess the air is less dense that high up. i wonder what others are running at in mountain passes. in the flats it is 700 to 800 going 70 to 75. -

yeah, i pull a lot of mountain passes with heavy loads. i just drop it in 4th and pull around 2800 going 60-65 that way i can keep the exhaust temp down below 1100-1200 -
