Default NEW ENGINE

THe Gandrud Dodge stealership in Green Bay just told me that I need a new engine and turbo and the main cause was my K&N cold air intake. They would not run a compression test and with one hour worth of labor, they were able to figure this out. This is why I have been going through 3 quarts of oil every 1500 miles. I just bought the truck a month ago!

My truck seems to be running great aside from the fact that it burns 2 quarts of oil every thousand miles. I've taken it on a 1500 mile ride and a 1000 mile ride. It has a straight pipe exhaust with no cat or muffler and it has a K&N CAI. If it really is my engine being shot, how many more miles should I expect to get out of it?

i found out last week that my truck has been using 3qts of oil between oil changes and it turned out to be my turbo. if you take off the tube that comes from your filter to your turbo and look at the turbo fins and if there black or if you see oil or if there is a black ring in front of your fins that means its loosing oil at the bearing in the front of the turbo also another way to check and see is wait till your turbo is cool and grab the front nut with your fingers and see if the turbo moves up and down alot it is supposed to move a little but if it has alot of play the bearings are going out. another way is if you grab that same nut and the turbo shaft moves in and out that means it is shot. it is not supposed to move in and out at all

How many oil changes did you go through burning this much oil? Were you burning oil or leaking oil?
