exhaust brake with 48re
I did a thread search and couldn't find an answer to this. I have a stock 48re trans on my 2004.5 Dodge and wondered about putting a PacBrake or other exhaust brake on my stock transmission with about 55k miles. Would this work and what if any mods would I need to make? I pull a bumper pull toy hauler that loaded gives me a combined gross of 17.5k. Interstates with 6% grades my stock rig works fine but on secondary roads with 10%+ grades leave me wanting a bit more stopping power and let my brakes stay a bit cooler.

any company that makes exhaust brakes will send you the proper advice and parts to make it work. my buddie has a brake on his 04.5 with a 48re. when u turn on the brake it locks in the TC and lets the brake work instead of the TC unlocking and letting the rpm's drop out. by locking up the TC and it staying locked is just the same as a standard being in gear.
