Default first start up?

I have always wondered why is it when an older first gen fires up it is instantly, when newer trucks seem to roll all the way over once. nothing wrong just curious?

Because the CP3 needs to build pressure before the injectors will light...its an electronic thing.

Plus most electronic engines like to verify there's oil pressure present before they fire and run, first gens just have the dummy light in the dash; no shut down wired in. Wouldn't have thought the cp3 but it does make sense.

3rd gens will run 3 minutes without oil pressure signal (or oil pressure) before the check engine light will pop...the in dash gauge is fake.

I've always thought that gauge is fake, should have a faster response

It has a very fast response compared to actual oil pressure...

Have you verified this with a manual gauge? It's extremely hard for me not to throw the bs flag on this; but I really don't know or have anything to prove you wrong with sooo I'm going to respectfully remain neutral. I'm not going to disagree the in-dash gauge isn't dumbed down but hell it only takes 12 psi or something stupid low to keep the oil pressure/check engine light off.

Part of the ECM programming. If the truck is started, and doesn't have oil pressure; the gauge will show oil pressure for 3 minutes before dropping to zero and the MIL illuminating.

Got ya, just find it dumb for programming to have an opportunity to trash your engine; running for 3 minutes before any alert to definite engine damage. Speaking from industrial aspect; you get a 30 second warning then the engine shuts down.
