Default turbo question

i just bought a 2006 dodge cummins 3500 what is the stock turbo i know its a holset but not sure what model and did the 2006 come with vgt turbo never owned this new of a cummins and how good is the stock turbo as far as power and reliablity also would like to know what programer to get for it i have a buddy selling a edge color touch screen with attitude or would a smarty be better i was thinking the edge since it can display up to 8 gages

Smarty is the way to go. The turbo is reliable and strong. Just don't push the boost up to much. But with a smarty and just towing or everyday to day stuff you do it will hold up. Have a friend with around 250,000 on his truck and it has the smarty. It's his work truck. Almost always hooked up to some kind and size trailer. Still running strong.
