Default valve lash setting

I am wanting to set the valve lash on my truck can anyone tell me what the clearances are. 04 5.9

Intake .01, exhaust .02......check your valve cover for the tolerances.

intake is .010 and exhaust is .020 if you want your valves to be really quiet set them at .080 and .018. This is how mine are set and they are fantastically quiet!

would have to agree i did aswell on my 12v almost sounds like a duramax now its so quiet

Make sure the engine is cold when you set the tolerances.

will this work for my 04? whats it doing when its set at .080 and .018? is it opening the valve more or something?

as is mine set.. at .08 and .018.... and dmaxkiller it will open the valve a little more but mostly eases the noise produced fron the rocker bridge contacting the rocker arm. also helps if you run you truck pretty hard and run above the 1200egt mark for any period of time with valve float.

In 07 minimum lash specs went up so keep that in mind on 07's

Ok so let me get this right. Set the intake at .080 and the exhaust at .018 I don't run my truck that hard. This will not hurt anything like the cam or the springs? Just curious this is the first time I have seen this and have been around these forums for awhile.
