Default newbie question

My truck is mostly stock right now but I want to build it up a little at a time without breaking the bank, what should be the first thing I add/take away or upgrade

the first thing you absolutely need to do first is get a 2 micron fuel filter.that is the most important things on these trucks is too keep fuel cleaned. i learned the hard way didnt put it on until 110,000 miles and it was to late a couple of my injectors were bad. if i was you though thats what i would do because injectors are expensive on thses trucks around 325.00 a piece. I know it sucks so put that 2 micron fuel filter on there. Also what is good to do also i get a 5 micron fuel filter for your stock fuel canister. the number is pf7977 baldwin filter. Just trying to save your truck to from a melt down becu=ause these truck are so sensitive to bad injectors. Not trying to scare ya just trying to help ya out. Good luck.

Damn good info. Wish I had done this a while back. Now trying to do a filter\lift pump combo. Lets not forget gauges while we are it, so you can at least see for certain what your beast is doing.

Its less dirt and more the water in fuel that damages these systems...

I had a FASS installed, with a 3u filter; and lost an injector (and all were in bad shape) from a load of water I picked up...the filter you install MUST be capable of removing or trapping water, or you're wasting your time.

One of the first things to check is to see if the vents on the top of the fuel tank are sitting open...those will suck water in and you don't even know it.
