My 03 is not wanting to start when its cold. (45 and lower) The air intake heater is working. If i don't plug it in I must use starting fluid & it fires right up.
I was told its the injectors. Anyone disagree?
I bough it used, it has 325k miles & i don't know if it has newer injectors.
The truck is stock besides exaust & air cleaner. What size & brand injectors can get me the best MPG?
I have owned several new built 7.3 powerstrokes, this is my 1st cummins
Its a 4x4, auto, 4-door, 3:73, and gets 16-19 MPG.

 

Shot ether in my 03 for 2 years, hot or cold. Was told injectors were shot. Then I changed the serp belt, wiggled the crank sensor, cleaned connectors and grounds and fires up everytme. Runs great, Got 25.7 mpg on a recent trip and 14+ pullng 45' 33000#gvw livestock trailer. Just my experience. My first cummins was a 92,bought new and it still runs at 640000 miles. only repair was a bearing in tranny. Right front wheel shudders so bad between 30-35 it throws the passenger side door open. Shifter is a piece of pipe and if u hit a bump the driver wndow falls inside the door...Loved that truck, gave her away and still running in texas.

 

"Could" be injectors. When my injectors started to go it was hard to start cold, until finally it wouldn't start at all.
