Extremely Weird Electrical Issue
Friday morning, grid heater didn't run, started and idled sup par (stumbled, little white smoke). Yesterday morning, grid heater cycled, started and idled great. This morning, same as Friday morning.
What would make it run good when the grid heater cycles, and crappy when it doesn't cycle? Have I got a sensor or something shorted someplace? I'm usually pretty good at diagnosing things, but this has me wondering where to start. Anyone have a better guess than I do?

I haven't yet. I'm thinking it's the integrated gasket (valve cover gasket), or the ECM. What you can try is unplug both injector harness connections, and ohm test the gasket (get's it and the injectors at the same time). If you find one that reads more than 1, write down which pair it is (front 3 are 1-3 back 3 are 4-6). After you do all 6, remove the valve cover, then the two nuts that hold the wires to the injector solenoid. If the injector tests less than 1, you got a bad gasket. Injector reads the same before and after, the solenoid is bad, and your in need of replacing the injector.
Note: if you got an ohm meter that can go to 20 or less, that's good as it'll have a fine read.
I'm praying that it's not the ECM.
