All common rail diesels generally have multiple injection events in one cycle. Something like efi would allow you to modify the firing. Note that these injecton events are there for multiple reasons, one of which is to reduce engine noise.
No reason in my opinion to disable the injection events unless you are pursuing a competition style setup

Well they way it was explained to me is the 3rd one is to help raise temps to control emission and the it also slightly decrease mileage. Dont know if what i was told is true or not but I was wondering if disabling it would make any noticeable change in egts or fuel mileage
