Default Battery go boom!...

Has anyone else's battery ever explode? Well mine just did. Popped the hood and top was off the battery and a mess was everywhere. Even took off some of the paint next to the top of the hood. DAMN

you can use baking soda, it will neutralize the acid. if you mix an acid, and a base it will neutralize each other. baking soda is cheap and effective, you can throw it on as a powder and it will stick to the acid, then mix up a baking soda and water solution to spray on and wash it all away.

do you have any pictures of the battery?

Yup mine did the same thing. Did you see a spike on your gauge prior to the caps blowing ?

i had one explode on a piece of machinery i was working on. i was leaning over it just before it went leaned back and hit the key to see if it would crank yet and "boom" had to take a baking soda bath . not too fun. i have pics of the battery somewhere if i find them i will post them up for ya.
usually happens when the battery is about to die. the hydrogen gas builds up during charging and discharging and if the connection is a little weak it could spark and make a huge mess .
