We took mine out for a little while because I wanted to hear the turbo a little more. Didn't hear a difference with mine (on the '06). We went to put it back in few months later and before we did, we noticed there's now play in the turbo. Maybe it's just a coincidence...or maybe that silencer ring does help the flow become less turbulent, also.

No reason for the silencer ring other then to silence. If you look at most if not all aftermarket turbos they have no ring. Dodge put them on there due to customers complaints about excessive turbo noise.

Ha ha I like the way you look at it... Totally true though, it just makes more turbo noise. Some people like it, some people hate it. I kinda like it, but I have also reinstalled the ring when we go on long road trips because it gets old after 6 hours of whistling.

I removed the baffles in my 06 and I lost some fuel mileage so reinstalled it. but have been wondering about silencer ringer and installing torque tube.
