Default HELP MAYBE STRANDED 48RE MORE PROBLEMS

ok heres the story; transmission was shuddering 3rd into fourth. Did service, oil, filter, adjusted bands(rear was really loose). Only changed fluid in pan(ran out of daylight)filled with trans in neutral. Took it for a 10 mile drive, was awsome. Best since i bought it. Drove to work the next morning and problem returned. Drove back home and now have problems with 1st and 2nd bouncing back and forth, and same previous problem. Has 208k miles, had 180k when i bought it.

Default It's Time

My guess would be you got a truck with a trans that was already pooched by previous owner who ignored the service intervals and/or beat on it. They'll go longer than that, but 200k ain't that bad by any means.

Time for a rebuild?

No i didnt change the solenoid. The main problem i'm having is there is so many oppinions on line that i dont know where to start. i have read so much on multiple sites that i've gotten confused about parts and brands. This is the first auto i've had and i cant afford right now to replace the trans. i just need something to get it going.

Your probably right Nadirpoint, i did notice when i changed the fluid it was brown, no burnt smell. The previous owner stated he "always" had the services done as scheduled.
I call BS.

If the band has been loose then its probably toast.

That's normal, but would also indicate it's got some miles and heat on it.
