Remove the top fan shroud retaining nut on the passenger side, and that will allow the shroud to collapse slightly and provide the needed room to fish the pump out...the shroud is like an accordian, and will collapse/stretch.

I changed mine out at 147k in a hotel parking lot, 750 miles from home...it was one of the easier fixes on the truck.

 

Well sounds like I did it the super hard way. I was just wanting to get a good look at everything... Yeah that's it. Lol. Well thanks to being 30 min from Geno's, they had the pump and a new thermostat. Got it all back together just before dark. Hope it's good now.
