Question Trans gague

I have a generic trans gauge and sensor from a buddy. Is there anything special when mounting it to a 2005 3500. Does it require a specific sensor? Or can anyone do?

I guess I should have asked, where do I mount the sensor?

I assume you have an auto 48RE? Here is a thread about where to put a sensor for 47RE's, I imagine they are similar.
