Default 04.5 wont not rev through the rpms smooth?

My truck seems to run& drive fine. When you free rev it slow up to 3000rpm, it will sound fine, or when you drive it it runs flawlesly lots of power, but if you give it a quick rev up thru the RPMS, it will pop, it sounds like the timming is off, or air/water in fuel, that kindof poping noise. why does it do this? is this a common thing? still very much a newbie to the common rails, and the smarty tunner. It doesnt do it as bad on the lower tune or tunes without the timming added. I have it on level 6 currently. Any help or suggestions?

id be curious to what your timing is set at when your smarty is at 6 and what your fuel pressure gauge is at when you are at 3000 rpm's

dont have a fuel psi gauge, and i am thinking maybe the timming is not set correct, or the fuel psi could be an issue, but i have heard that you should be able to make 500hp easy with stock fuel system which im not even close to making. im playing with smary it just seems wierd to me that it runs so good under power but if you just give it a quick rev, like you would to clean it out it will pop bigtime after 2000rpm.

Your truck will enter free revolution at 3200 RPM's. Is it a popping noise over and over again until the RPM's come back down? If thats the case you don't have enough fuel to support the higher RPM range with the smarty or whatever you have. Do you have a FASS or Airdog system to keep fuel pressure up? If not I will say that is your problem. You can't meet the fuel demands and that causes the popping noise.

The pops more like after 2000 rpm, it will just go pop, like a back fire and i let out of it, it will not do it if im down shifting and give it a quick rev, just if its at a stand still and you give it a quick blast and after 2000rpm it goes pop, and i dont hold it cause it sounds bad, if i rev it slow up to 3 and hold it, the truck runs fine no pop or back fire.
