Default Questions Timming-over rev...oops

Well i have some questions about my smarty. I have put my truck on level 5 90hp& added timming. I had the limmit on 99=full power, and everything else on 2 out of the 1-4 for being light on trucks drive train, stock clutch....anyway i was driving around and the truck seemed to drive alright little kick, but it seemed to have a little bit of a white smoke haze, and it popped if i gave it a quick rev, like the timming had to much advance or was off? can anyone inlighten me on what they are trying to give me by advancing my timming? i know if i advance it on my 68 road runner it will give it a better top end and more power in high rpm range but thats gas job. on my 12 valve when i advanced the timming it started harder in the cold and in general, but gained better high end drivability and fuel millage. i put the smarty to the 90hp 4 catcher without the timmimg and its on full power and seems to be driving much better thru the rpm range no more white haze...whats up with the timming? seems like its hurting me? why? what do you guys recomend me use for a tune with a 6speed HO with a intake, dual feed line& stright pipe? i want the most power/miles to the gallon? and it to be safe?

More timing equals MPG I run mine on 5 at 75 and get about 22 to 24 mpg!

ya, thats what i thought! im just a little worried because with the timming it seems like truck was not running as good with it, it was popping with a quick rev, and hard to tell exactly because my muffler fell off the other day so the exhaust exits infront of the rear axle under the truck but it was whitish smoke and sometimes black....im new to these computerized rigs plug and play, what would you recomend me use for a setting with my truck? its a 04.5 6speed, and has 4:10 gears a straight pipe, and intake....i want power for around town, and millage for when im on the highway, from my expiernce so far i think i like the catcher 4 90hp no timming around town, and catcher 3 60hp with timming on the highway.

Too much timing and too much fuel equals melted pistons. If you are going to run the bigger power tunes then back the timing off to either stock, or, try Timing 3-4 to see which one it likes.

The higher timing tunes are for mileage and no load SW 3 or less. Your working wiht 3 event son these engines, no ability to tune the event parameters or the timing curve. The ECU adjusts dynamically base don inputs so its takes chaning things to find the seet spot. Smarty and smoke has been the problem. The lates flash has helped a lot on that end so make sure you have the Feb 2010 update loaded cuz it chnages the way things work.
