???

You stated EGR...then 04.5...then cat.

The 04.5 doesn't have an EGR that I know of...it was 48 state compliant. The cat on the 04.5 isn't flanged either.

Can you add some details to what you are wanting to do??

There's no real parts to take off like the old 12v or new 6.7's. To eliminate the egr on 04.5 And up requires installing a new aftermarket cam which will run you around 500 bucks and then whatever a shop would charge you to install it if you can't do it youself. The cost involved vs what you benifit from it isn't really worth it. Some have seen 75* cooler egts and up to but not gaurenteed 2mpg and maybe 7 hp. You'd be better off with a good intake nice flowing exhaust and a programer IMO.

A smarty will remove the 3rd injection event, which is the in-cylinder "EGR".

As for programers that defuel I know for sure Edge Juice with Attitude will defuel at your preset and Banks will too. I have personal experience with those two can't say about others.

As for the Smarty removing the third event, I know they were testing it but I was under the impression they didn't release that to the public due to not getting the desired results from it.

I was told it removes the 3rd injection event. I own a Smarty Jr, and that was one of the reasons I purchased it.

You shouldn't have an EGR or a DPF on your 04.5. I know mine doesn't. EGR started with the Blue Tec diesels and the 6.7. If you have an EGR someone did something really wrong.
