My G-56 6 speed is making a grinding noise in 5th gear. Could it be the synchronizer going bad or something else? It is not real loud, but it does make noise while going down the road and the stick vibrates a little. Tried pushing it further into gear, but no change. All the other gears are fine. Any ideas on a price to fix, or has yours done the same thing? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like the dreaded 5th gear nut problem. If so, Dodge has an upgraded nut you can install. Can do it yourself, and it shouldn't take more than an hour.

I like the do it yourself part. A little easier on the wallet. I guess I will call the stealership tomorrow and order a nut. Thanks for the heads up!

Sounds good, I'll wait and let someone who has done this chime in and give some pointers. I may just tell the wife it needs a new clutch as well and put in a performance clutch. But I already know her response,
