So I was under the hood fixing a leaking oil pressure sender and I was feeling up the injector lines, out of curiosity. Anyway #1 has kind of a tapping to it, while the others run smooth. Any ideas? -... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

I am not sure what this could be truthfully, but I think that you just made the best on members quote thread. I will look at mine today and see if I have similar symptoms. -

mine does the same thing. It also has a brief ticking sound then fades out maybe 30 seconds after being started. I've wondered about both of the issues? -

It can be a sign of injector failure. Or it can just be the pressure, I would diagnose it with a Solus Pro, Turn that injector off and go from there! -

I had a cylinder kill test done, oh about a month ago. Said all the injectors were working. I suppose much could happen between then and now. -

Are you currently having any symptoms of injector or pump failure? Most Likely it's just fine. A Little bit of Air or airated fuel can cause a Water hammer effect.
I understand your concern ....This bosch common rail stuff is getting silly...and silly expensive! - |

EPA is getting silly to, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms there. You mentioned something about a Solus Pro? -

It is a known issue that is really no issue at all.. I talked to my cousin about a loud injector and he pulled a bulliten on it.. it is just because of the bends in the injector line..

It's perfectly normal. All CR's I've been around do it. -

yes all common rails will have that, and it is not necessarily just the number one, could be different on any truck, remember with our trucks along with rail pressure and timing, they also add injector pulse, could be that you can feel the number one pulsing, in the fuel line, but not the others.... and the tick you hear is very normal... nothing to worry about there....
