Default Fuel Leaking back?

As I have posted before on another thread I am having hard starts. No codes showing up, got fuel to cylinders, air dog and 1/2 fuel lines. I think I might have fuel leaking back... I have tried the up hill and down hill trick but don't know how to diagnosis it... I have to use the evil ether sometimes. I am lost runs fine when started too... Maybe bad lift pump, or bad quick connects, or lines...? Fuel PSI unknown.. I know I know I really want one but they are not cheap....! But last time I checked it with a temp gauge it was good... Some one please help!

You need a fuel pressure gauge, if you bump the starter it still won't prime it? How long does it have to sit before it "loses prime?" How old is airdog, filters? Really shouldn't be using ether because of the intake heater grids.

Yea, Really need one, Bad! Posted in the group buy maybe I could get setup... Anyhow Bumping the starter seems to do the trick as of now... As of age, bought it of a buddy I'm thinking 3-5 yrs old.. Just a guess. Worked great for the first year then all the sudden hard starts... Letting it set from 8-5 at work will do it. and sometimes after short as 30-60 min. I mostly drive mon-fri 7-6 to and from work and nothing else because of the problem, so short term is not noticed much... I change the filters every other oil change, matter of fact I just changed them 2wks ago for the heck of with the issue in mind.. Ether BAD BAD BAD.. But it had to be done, I wanted to get home that fri.. Im still lost on this mess

For the hell of it I'd go to the dealership and buy new overflow valve for your vp, it could be that simple. Ryan (RAWilliams) just posted an awesome tech write up on how to test the overflow- you should check it out.

Have you checked the Banjo bolt on the back of the head to see if it is loose? It will allow the fuel system to loose prime if loose, and frequently won't leak fuel out. Just air in.

I have put a new overflow valve in the old one was bad, had my local diesel shop hook me up... But no help really, and that was when it first started.. I have not checked the one on the very back. I check it out!

OK so checked the banjo bolt on the rear of the head it was tight but I gave her a good snug and it did move some but it wasnt loose by any means, but air could weasel in i guess. So I checked and tried to tighten all of the lines on the return side so well see what happens in the morning. I dont think that those were the problem issues.. So does anyone have any other ideas? Ill post back if anything did change.....Thanks!

Well if it started right after changing the OFV I'd have to suspect that.

checked all the banjo bolts on the vp return and supply, and the one in the very back of the head. It was doing it before the OFV thats why I suspected it. I guess I could pull the new filters off and check them...
